Senator Troy E. Brown
District - 2

Welcome to my Legislative Web page. It is indeed an honor and privilege to represent the citizens of District 2 in the Louisiana State Senate. District 2 is mainly drawn from what is more commonly known as “The River Parishes”, which encompasses parts of St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James parishes. The district also includes a large portion of Iberville and West Baton Rouge parishes, and also parts of the bayou region parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and Lafourche.

As a standing member of the Health and Welfare, Environmental Quality, and Transportation, Highways, and Public Works Committees, I am well positioned to address the many issues that exist throughout the District. I intend to provide the people of District 2 with a solution-oriented form of leadership based on my many years of business accomplishments over the last twenty years throughout this district. I will also serve on the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee, which dictates how Capital Outlay dollars are spent and considers any revenue raising measures. I will also serve as a member of the Select Committee on Vocational-Technical Education.

This page has been developed as a tool to learn about the ongoing works of the Louisiana Legislature relevant to issues and concerns that surround District 2, along with issues and concerns that affect the entire geographic River Region. Please contact me at your convenience to offer comments or ask questions. My staff and I look forward to hearing from you as we stand ready to assist in whatever manner necessary.

Legislative Priorities for the 2016-2020 Term:

1. Implement the needed strategies to rectify the budget shortfalls and continued revenue problems.

2. Adequately fund our educational systems in order to retain effective teachers and provide affordable higher education.

3. Monitor the expansion of the Medicaid to maximize positive outcomes for both Louisiana's citizens and business communities.

4. Work toward a new Mississippi River bridge in the Iberville-WBR parish area.

5. Develop strategies to maintain lighting on the Sunshine Bridge and Veterans Memorial Bridge in Gramercy.

6. Develop a closer and more transparent working relationship between the Louisiana Department of Economic Development and area legislators relative to economic projects throughout the state.

7. Initiate strategies to incentivize local hiring throughout the state to stimulate employment growth and worker retention.

8. Introduce and orientate Louisiana trade careers at our middle schools as well as high schools.

9. Design and build state of the art neighborhood facilities to accommodate educational, social and recreational activities.
