2016-2020-Second term--Chairman
of the Senate Committee on Retirement, serves on the following
committees: Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural
Development; Commerce, Consumer Protection and International
Affairs; and Labor and Industrial Relations. Also, Joint
Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay. He is the Senate
President's designee on the Public Retirement Systems' Actuarial
Committee and the Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation
Board.
2012-2016-First term--served
on the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee,
Retirement Committee, Select Committee on Oversight of Deepwater
Horizon Claims and the Select Committee on High School
Interscholastic Athletics.
He
visited every public school (40) in his district during his
first term.
2017
Honored with statewide Delta Kappa
Gamma Friend of Educators Award from this woman's educators
society at its 83rd state convention in Kenner. The Louisiana
membership is more than 2,000.
Represented the Senate on full
scholarship at the Western Regional Forum in Denver among state
legislative chamber leaders from across the country to share
policy ideas and trade best practices in implementing
conservative principles to create jobs and expand economic
opportunities.
Received second place in the 18th
annual Bossier Press-Tribune's Readers' Choice Award for best
elected official.
2016
Presented the Louisiana State Troopers
Association 2016 Legislator of the Year Award.
2014
Bestowed the Louisiana office of
National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the state's
leading small-business association, coveted Guardian of Small
Business Award in recognition of his efforts to support small
business issues.

Program at the University of Virginia. The national program,
sponsored by the non-profit, non-partisan State Legislative
Leaders Foundation (SLLF) and the University of Virginia Darden
School of Business, is designed to enhance the leadership
