Senator Mike Walsworth is a
lifelong resident of Northeast, Louisiana. Mike has one
daughter, Lindsay and son-in-law Jeff Cobb. Mike has two
grandsons and a granddaughter. Connor Michael Cobb, Oliver Allen
Cobb & Sophie Lewis. He is married to Dawne Smith Walsworth,
together they have four sons Chris, Zach, Kayden and Corbin.
Mike is a graduate of Leadership Ouachita and
Leadership Louisiana. He is active in a number of organizations.
Mike is a member of the Jackson Street Church of Christ, where
he serves as a song leader. Mike is also a graduate of Northeast
Senator Mike Walsworth starts his 19th
year in the Legislature. He is one of the longest serving
members of our area delegation. He believes it is his obligation
to serve our entire region and state.
Senator Walsworth was first elected to the
Louisiana House of Representatives in 1995 and re-elected in
1999 and 2003. He was first elected to the Louisiana Senate in
2007 and re-elected in 2011. He serves as Chairman of the
Environmental Quality Committee, Vice-Chair of the Senate and
Governmental Affairs Committee. He continues to serve on the
Select Committee on Homeland Security. He also serves on the
Education Committee and the Joint Committee on the Budget for
his 7th year. He is Chairman of the Legislative Audit
Advisory Council and an interim member of Senate Finance
Committee. Mike is a past Chairman of the Republican Legislative
Delegation. Senator Walsworth has won several legislative honors
for his pro-business and anti-tax support.
