Senator Gerald Boudreaux
District - 24



 Gerald Boudreaux was elected to represent District 24, in the Louisiana State Senate on October 24, 2015 and was sworn into office on January 11, 2016. 

 He was appointed as a member to the following Senate Committees:

·         Education

·         Health and Welfare

·         Revenue and Fiscal Affairs

·         Select Committee on Veteran's Affairs (Vice-Chairman)

 Additionally, his state service includes being appointed to the:

·         Louisiana Obesity Prevention and Management Commission

·         Louisiana Workforce Investment Council

·         Governor's Advisory Council on Disability Affairs

·         WON Louisiana Legislative Commission

 Gerald and his wife Carlos, along with daughters Brittney, Whittney, and Hallie, are members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he serves as a “Trustee”, member of the Finance Committee and as Captain of the Usher Society.

 Gerald currently serves on the Board of Directors for the following:

·         Miles Perret Cancer Services Center

·         Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (LSHOF)

·         Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS)

·         Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday Committee (1985-Present)

However, his service/work history also includes: 

·         Director of Parks & Recreation Department (1985-present); appointed by the past five Mayors of the City of Lafayette.

·         B.S. Degree in Education from UL Lafayette/Graduate of Northside High School

·         Past member of Board of Directors - United Way of Acadiana (1987-1996)

·         Past member of Board of Directors - Chamber of Commerce of Lafayette (1989-1991)

·         Past member of Kiwanis-Southwest LA  (1984-2004)

·         Past member and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Lourdes Hospital (2005-2013)

·         Past Member of Ragin Cajun Athletic Foundation (RCAF) (2013-2016)

·         Past Member of the Louisiana State Parks Board (1988-1992)


·         Outstanding Young Man of America, 1984

·         Kiwanian of the Year (Kiwanis-Southwest), 1986

·         Distinguished Service Award Recipient (Hershey Track), 1986

·         Naismith Award (College Basketball Official of Year), 2000

·         Mr. Louisiana Basketball (Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches), 2008

·         Dave Dixon Sports Leadership Award; inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, 2010 as a Division 1 College Basketball Official.

·         Trailblazer Award from the Greater Lafayette Black Chamber of Commerce, 2015

 In addition to his community and civic responsibilities, Gerald was active as an NCAA College Basketball Official from 1984 until 2006, and was selected to work the Final Four five times during his career.  He served as the Supervisor of Men’s Basketball Officials for the Southeastern Conference from 2006 through 2013.
