Senator Troy E. Brown   -  District 2

Welcome to my Legislative Web page. It is indeed an honor and privilege to represent the citizens of District 2 in the Louisiana State Senate. District 2 is mainly drawn from what is more commonly known as “The River Parishes”, which encompasses parts of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Lafourche, St Charles, St John the Baptist, and St. James parishes. A large portion of West Baton Rouge Parish is also apart of this newly created District although it is not referred to as a “River Parish”.

As Vice-President of the Senate Committee on Environmental Quality, and a standing member of the Insurance and also Transportation, Highways, and Public Works Committees, I am well positioned to address the many issues that exist throughout the District. “I intend to provide the people of District 2 with a solution-oriented form of leadership based on my many years of business accomplishments over the last twenty years throughout this district”.

This page has been developed as a tool to learn about the ongoing works of the Louisiana Legislature relevant to issues and concerns that surround District 2, along with issues and concerns that affect the entire geographic River Region. Please contact me at your convenience to offer comments or ask questions. My staff and I look forward to hearing from you as we stand ready to assist in whatever manner necessary.

Legislative Priorities for the 2012-2016 Term:

1. Reduce employer payroll taxes to generate more small and large businesses.

2. Impose sentencing alternatives for non-violent offenders to reduce the Department of Correction’s out of control budget.

3. Expand the public school transportation model to provide transportation to all vocational-technical schools statewide.

4. Maintain adequate services for the elderly and all other medicaid recipients.

5. Implement proven initiatives to the educational system in order to yield a more skilled and educationally sound workforce.
